Editorial Policy
Premastication.com is an independent educational resource. Editorial decisions are made solely by our team based on the available evidence.
Our Mission
Premastication is one of the oldest feeding behaviors in human history, yet it remains poorly understood by the general public. Our mission is to provide clear, accurate, research-grounded information about the science, history, and evolving commercial landscape of premastication so that readers can make informed decisions.
Sources and Research Standards
All scientific claims in our guides are grounded in peer-reviewed research published in recognized journals. Where we reference specific studies, we identify the authors, publication, and year so that readers can verify claims independently. We prioritize primary sources — the original research papers — over secondary reporting.
For historical and anthropological claims, we rely on published ethnographic research and recognized academic sources. Where the historical record is ambiguous or contested, we say so explicitly rather than presenting uncertain claims as established fact.
We do not cite press releases, brand marketing materials, or sponsored research as primary evidence. When we describe a brand's claims about its own products, we identify them as the brand's claims rather than presenting them as independently verified facts.
Brand Coverage
When we profile commercial premastication brands, our coverage is editorially neutral. No brand receives favorable treatment. We describe each brand's stated approach, publicly available information about their sourcing and processes, and how they position themselves within the category. We do not endorse, recommend, or rank brands.
We do not accept payment from brands for coverage, placement, or favorable language. We do not participate in affiliate programs with brands profiled on this site. If this ever changes, we will disclose it prominently.
Corrections
We take accuracy seriously. If we publish an error of fact, we correct it promptly and note the correction with a date and description of what changed. If you believe something in our coverage is inaccurate, contact us at [email protected] with the specific claim and your supporting evidence. We review all corrections requests and respond within five business days.
Updates
The premastication category is evolving. We update our guides when new research is published, when brands make material changes to their products or processes, or when new entrants emerge. The "last updated" date on each guide reflects the most recent substantive revision, not minor formatting changes.
What We Are Not
Premastication.com is not a medical resource. Our content is educational and informational. We do not provide medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations. Readers with health concerns should consult qualified healthcare providers. While our content is grounded in peer-reviewed research, the presence of scientific citations does not constitute a medical endorsement of premastication or any specific product.
